The Benefits of participating in the Shooting Sports – How it will help you in school.
By: Jon Michael McGrath (Junior Writer For Kids By Kids)

Weather you shoot a pistol, rifle or shotgun we all have a common thread. Because we all participate in the shooting sports and spend hours having fun at the range we all enjoy one important benefit. Each time we look at a target we are practicing our ability to focus. Weather we realize it or not the same ability to focus will help you in school. Most of my teammates enjoy top grades in school.

I got started in the Shooting Sports because I wanted to try something new and experience shooting a shotgun. Until then, I played soccer, baseball, basketball, football and was a springboard diver. After my first day at the range during my first Boy Scout summer camp, I was hooked. The real deal beats video games anytime.

At that time, the National Skeet Shooters Association (NSSA) had a program called, Try it, you’ll like it. I was 11-years-old at the time. So, I tried it. Take one of your friends to the range with you today. You may be doing them a favor.

Be safe and focus.
