CooperNational Junior Air Gun Championships come to Camp Perry, Ohio

FAIRFAX, VA –  The 2009 NRA National Junior Air Gun Championships will take place at Camp Perry, Ohio, starting on Wednesday, July 1. The three-day event will begin with practice and equipment checks followed by three relays of competition on Thursday, July 2, and Friday, July 3. Winners will be honored at an awards banquet, scheduled for July 3 at 7:00 p.m.

The rules for this year’s championship break with years past. For the 2009 competition, there are no entry requirements; every junior shooter is welcome to compete.

This rule change is expected to increase the number of competitors. Last year’s championships brought 240 competitors, the second-most competitors ever to compete in the NRA Junior Air Gun Championships.

heitmeiereWe expect a great turn out because this year’s championship is open, unlike past years where competitors needed to navigate the qualification process, NRA Air Gun Coordinator Jessica McClain said. All air gun competitors are encouraged to come out to Perry and join in the fun.

On July 2, competitors are invited to the “Barter Bar” after the final relay. At the barter, each team is encouraged to bring items – from patches and pens to magnets and hats – from their state or community for trading.

For more information on the event, contact Jessi McClain at 703-267-1477 or by email at jmcclain@nrahq.org.
