S&W Silver Grade 1My name is Steven Perry. I currently live in Nampa, Idaho. I am 14 years old and I have been hunting and shooting sporting clays now for about 4 and a half years. I shoot mostly with my parents Matt and Christy Perry almost every Sunday. I like to shoot in tournaments especially state tournaments. I am quite often the sub junior champion and placed 3rd in my class at my last shoot.

Of course it probably helps that my parents own the Buckhorn Gun Shop in Boise, Idaho and I get to shoot a lot as well as try out a lot of different guns. A couple of months ago, I was asked to shoot and evaluate a Smith & Wesson Elite Silver Grade I in 12-gauge; an over and under. I was very happy to have the opportunity to do that. I’ve got to say I enjoyed shooting it very much.

S&W Silver Grade 2The first time I ever shot it, my score was actually better than what I usually get with the gun I am currently shooting! In my opinion anyone can pick this gun up and shoot it right out of the box. In fact, one time when I went to go shooting I accidentally grabbed this Smith & Wesson shotgun instead of my usual gun and I shot excellent. I was shocked at myself for the results and the score I got with it.

Smith_Wesson_JS copyThe ammunition I used while shooting this gun was mostly Winchester AA’s, although I used several other types of ammunition while shooting this gun as well. They included Fiocchi, Federal, and Remington. They all shot extremely well in this shotgun. I hardly noticed any difference between the different types of ammunition and the way the gun shot.

Some of the things I would like to mention about this shotgun are that this shotgun has VERY nice engraving and color case hardening on the receiver. S&W Silver Grade 3I don’t think you see that in many shotguns these days. buckhorn gun and pawn BUYING Ad Just horses copy

Also, I am a left-handed shooter, and one great feature of this gun is that it has a straight stock with no left or right-handed cast. Any left or right-handed shooter can use this gun well. I have a 14-1/2″ pull and this gun fit me great.

One other great feature of this gun is the variety of chokes that are included with the shotgun. A suggested option for future models of this shotgun would be a barrel selector option.

This shotgun is a lightweight shotgun; I think any person who has a slow swing would have no problem with this gun at all. (Of course that doesn’t count me, because I am naturally a fast swinging shooter.) I think this shotgun is more of a field/hunting gun, but it would fit right in at any trap or sporting range too. It’s a great gun either way. I like the length of the barrels on the shotgun; it balances very well. I really like the select walnut used on the butt stock and forearm, the fine checkering is super nice as well.

Overall I would say that this Smith & Wesson shotgun would make a GREAT gun for any sporting enthusiast. I would definitely consider purchasing it. One thing is for sure I have very much enjoyed shooting it. Thanks for the opportunity and great shooting to all!
